This course covers the origin and evolution of Abrahamic religions, starting with the anthropology and prehistory of religion. We will then examine the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic and the rise of human cultures, continuing with the Neolithic and the foundations of organized religion. Narrowing our scope to the civilizations of the environs of the Middle East, The Levant, Canaan and Israel, we will study ancient religions before Christianity and how Christianity itself evolved. Class size limit: 150.
