This course will provide participants with an introduction to the physical, mental and philosophical aspects of yoga and meditation, with an emphasis on yoga for older adults. The class will include numerous breath techniques, silent and guided meditations, simple balance poses and gentle physical movements while sitting in a chair or standing. Practical information will also be given on the different types of yoga, the availability of yoga in Tallahassee, the use of DVDs and practicing at home. Finally, the course will touch upon the purported therapeutic benefits of yoga in dealing with a variety of health issues. Class size limit: 30. NOTE: Participants are encouraged to not eat at least 2 hours before class.
