It's all Greek to me: Architecture, Sculpture and Painting in Ancient Greece (5-week class)

The five week course is an analytical study of Ancient Greek architecture, sculpture and painting during the Geometric, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic Periods. Examples of the three fine arts will be contrasted and compared in order to better understand the search for humanism and perfection that characterize the culture. Emphasis will be centered on architectural examples, their aesthetic goals, construction techniques and materials. Concepts such the sacred precinct, acropolis, temple, agora (public square) and urban ideals will be interpreted.
