Trees of North Florida: Identification and Value (2-Week Class 3/24 and 3/31)(Tuesdays, 9:00am-11:00am)

First session meets at Native Nurseries. Jody Walthall and Donna Legare, founders of Native Nurseries, will go over the basics of tree characteristics, terminology and how to identify trees in the field. After break, we will walk around the nursery grounds for you to practice what you have learned. The value of trees to wildlife will be woven throughout the class. The second session will meet at 9am at A.J. Henry Park to hike through a mixed hardwood/pine mesic forest to identify trees there. We think you will find this class fun and challenging at the same time. You may want to follow it up with a tree identification hike with Stan Rosenthal at Wakulla Springs State Park, another OLLI class. Class size limit: 15.

REQUIREMENT: This involves hiking on trails that include slopes and steps.
