This course will offer students who have little or no piano experience the chance to receive a thorough introduction to playing this versatile instrument. The group setting for this class helps students learn how to play the piano in a supportive and interactive environment. By the end of the course, students will develop elementary note-reading skills, the ability to play chords, simple repertoire pieces and familiar tunes. In addition, the class will include collaborative learning activities, such as playing duets and other ensemble pieces. Classes will be held in the piano lab located in the Kellogg Building. Class size limit: 7. NOTE: At-home practice isn’t required; however, access to a piano or keyboard outside of class would be ideal to enhance and reinforce the skills practiced during each lesson.
