The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood Revolution in Art and Literature
(Tuesdays, 2:00pm-4:00pm)
NEW!
The course approaches the Pre-Raphaelite Movement, a group of English painters, poets and art critics, like Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Hunt William Holman, who founded the movement in 1848, the renowned--or notorious-- year of revolutions all over Europe. The course discusses how their paintings were considered artistically revolutionary and how the Pre-Raphaelites were relating their views to visual arts with the literary arts like poetry and writing journals and memoirs. In this class, we examine their historical context with some of their most famous paintings and read some of their poems and literature. Class size limit: 18.
