The Glory That Is Greece (Wednesdays, 9:00am-11:00am) NEW!

Whether or not you are joining us for OLLI’s Greece study-abroad trip next summer, this course will give you a chance to understand how architecture, painting and sculpture evolved in ancient Greece. We will study examples from the Geometric to Hellenistic Periods and decipher why the Greek fine arts are considered the paradigmatic humanistic artistic expressions. We will explore the magic of ceramic painting, marble and bronze statuary, and temple design. The three Classical architectural orders and parts of the temple will also be interpreted. When we study this period we better understand ourselves and our civilization Class size limit: 85.
