  • This course will explore the deleterious effects of aging across all human systems and how exercise, nutrition, supplementation, and other lifestyle interventions can mitigate these effects. The course will also cover the science of aging, identify available technologies, and demonstrate the importance of community and relationships to optimize health. Course participants will be empowered with the latest research to make better-informed decisions regarding their healthcare.

  • This course will explain how to be a good patient as you age. Proactive questions and answers for effective
    perioperative preparation and health care will be explored. This class will include a one-hour presentation with
    follow-on interactive discussions.

  • This class will be in person at a local yoga studio. Participants will learn and practice physical postures, movements and breath techniques, both seated and standing, using the chair for support. The in-person setting offers the opportunity for more individual attention and questions and answers. The focus will be on learning to adapt yoga practice to individual abilities and energy levels. I'll show options to adjust movements for individual needs and for those who want to stay seated.

    Mobility requirement: able to get up and down from a chair (chair without arms). Also be able to remove shoes before entering studio space (chairs and bench at the door)

  • Digestive Health Gentle Chair Yoga focuses on improving improving the efficiency of the digestive system while using a chair for stability, balance, and support in seated and standing poses. Stretch, twist, fold, compress, breathe, and massage to minimize stomach discomforts and promote healthier digestion for overall well-being.

    Class Size Limit: 20

    Mobility Requirement: Students must be able to sit and stand using a chair for stability and balance.

  • This presentation explores the health promotion and illness prevention strategies within the perspective of Oriental medicine. Comparative analysis between Western and Oriental medicine will be made in relation to the view of the human body, health, illness and maintenance of health. Components of Oriental medical treatment approaches will be discussed with demonstration of selected self-help strategies. The concept of “food is medicine” will be highlighted with several clinical examples.
