BOO! OLLI’s Scarecrow Crew is Back!
Join fellow OLLI members as we participate in our 3rd annual Scarecrows in the Garden installation in support of the Friends of Maclay Gardens.
Bring ideas, paper/pen, a chair & water. We will be outside, dress for the weather. Possibly some place for lunch after.
Earn the coveted Master Recycler Certificate and be a part of growing green!
The Master Recycler Program empowers Leon County residents to reduce waste, recycle effectively, and become leaders in their community. This program provides interactive education for citizens on local waste systems, recycling best practices, and waste reduction solutions. Through hands-on learning and local insights, participants will gain the skills and knowledge to guide others in creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable community.
Witness the inner workings of our local fulfillment center. One hour tour will end with a Q&A session with senior staff members or the General Manager. The walking tour will involve starirs (not recommended for people with mobility issues).
Flat, close toed and closed heel shoes are REQUIRED (no sandals, high heels or platform shoes will be allowed). Steel toed shoes or boots are recommended if you have them.
Meet at the main entrance located at the center of the front facade under the giant Amazon Smile.

We’ll work together to build and decorate our scarecrow for this year’s Scarecrows in the Garden. Bring supplies, tools, a chair and water. Dress for the weather and come ready to create!
It’s time to put our creation on display! Join us at Maclay Gardens as we install OLLI’s entry for Scarecrows in the Garden and add the finishing touches.
AR Workshop will teach us how to make a beautiful Chunky Knit Blanket in time for the holidays! No experience or knitting needles required. You will knit using just your hands and the chunky yarn! All supplies and instructions provided. Come 15 minutes early to choose your yarn colors. Bring beverage and snack. Optional lunch nearby after the workshop.

Experience North Florida Wildlife at this non-profit organization that offers sanctuary to dozens of rescued and non-releasable animals: American White Pelicans, Giant Anteaters, Two-Toed Sloths, Lemurs, Red Kangaroo, and many more. Our guided tour will provide educational information on each animal. Carpool and lunch plans will be shared with registrants.
Explore the wildlife facilities and visit with the animals at North Florida Wildlife Center.

As one of America’s foremost landscape photographers, and a leading voice for environmental conservation in Florida, he captures the quiet beauty, mystery, and resilience of one of the nation’s most treasured natural landscapes. Optional lunch after the tour. Carpool options for registrants.
Kayaking on Lake Bradford. Kayaks, oars and life vests supplied. Dress for the weather and to get wet. Lifeguard on duty. Bring sunscreen, hat, water and a sack lunch to enjoy in the Garnet Pavilion after kayaking.
