A child of the Hudson Valley, her repertoire draws from Washington Irving, classic European folktales, and powerful women’s literary works, captivating audiences of adults and families alike.

Courtnay Micots is Associate Professor of Art History in the Visual Arts program at Florida A & M University. She has worked in Ghana for over 10 years as well as in the Republic of Benin, South Africa, Egypt, England, Cuba and Brazil. Her research encompasses a variety of resistance art forms, including carnival, architecture, sculpture and asafo flags. Her book Kakaamotobe: Fancy Dress Carnival in Ghana was published in 2021.

Behind the Scenes at the North Florida Wildlife Center

Learn about the North Florida Wildlife Center's mission, wildlife rehabilitation efforts, and volunteer opportunities. This lecture introduces the accompanying field trip for a behind-the-scenes look at the Center.
Scott Jones is a big bird guy who loves helping guests better understand animals and their behavior. Some of his favorite residents here include Olympia the griffon vulture, Ozai the palm cockatoo, and Azula the ground hornbill.

Scott graduated from the Animal Care and Training program at Moorpark College and is very interested in animal behavior and research.

Learn the lifesaving skills of CPR and AED use in this American Heart Association certified course. Gain the confidence to respond in an emergency with hands-on instruction and certification upon successful completion.
To complete an American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR certification, you must physically demonstrate the required psychomotor skills on a training manikin on the floor. This includes performing continuous, uninterrupted chest compressions at a depth of at least 2 inches and a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute, alongside delivering effective rescue breaths.

Do you have a physical limitation or injury that makes kneeling or heavy chest compressions difficult? Once you register, we can explain your options for official accommodation or modified testing with your instructor.
