This course will teach you how to properly deploy and utilize your issued body worn camera (BWC) system. We will discuss the benefits of wearing a body worn camera system and explain how to use it to your advantage.
In addition to the technical aspects of the body worn camera system, you will learn proper camera positioning, lighting, and audio applications when conducting both vehicle and pedestrian contacts.
As we discuss what to do and what not to do, we will show you how video can help to promote professional traffic stops, improve officer safety, and protect officers by accurately documenting their activities.

Online environment: This is an independent study, self-paced course. Although there are no specific times that you must be online, you will be required to complete assignments by the deadlines posted within the course. Hence, you must be committed to the course and invest the time necessary for successful completion. You should plan to dedicate approximately four hours to the course activities. Course must be completed within 30 days upon registration. Once the 30-day period has ended, you will no longer have access to the course.
Computer requirements: You will complete the course entirely online. A dependable broadband internet connection with a Windows or Mac computer is required.
