At-Scene Traffic Crash/Traffic Homicide Investigation - Online-Accelerated   

Online instructor-led course conducted over two consecutive weeks.

You must register at least 7 business days before the start date if you're in the U.S. and 21 if you're outside the U.S.

Presented entirely online, this course will arm you with the necessary skills to conduct a thorough traffic crash investigation and properly document your findings for courtroom presentation.

You will learn the proper procedures for measuring, scale diagramming, and photographing in order to record physical evidence and essential facts available only at the crash scene. You will learn the fundamentals of mathematics, physics and engineering as they pertain to crash investigations and the proper mathematical equations to apply for the type of crash being investigated. Finally, you will learn to analyze the information to determine what happened before, during, and after the collision.

For Florida Officers, this course will not qualify for Salary Incentive Credit for FDLE course “Traffic Homicide Investigation.”

IMPORTANT: Required materials will be shipped to you before the first day of class.

Online Details

Online environment: This course is interactive, instructor-led, and divided into daily modules. At the end of each day, the current module will close and a new module will open. Each student must successfully pass the quiz to progress to the next day of the course. The entire class progresses through the materials together like traditional classroom training. There are no provisions to skip modules or work ahead of the rest of the class. Class activities will take place Monday through Friday (only) for two consecutive weeks. Each day will require approximately 6-10 hours of class.

This is not a self-paced course. Although there are no specific times that you must be online, you will be required to complete assignments each day by midnight. Video lectures will be available each day beginning at midnight and learning activities must be completed each day.

The instructor will be available by e-mail and discussion forums throughout the course. He/She will be your guide and will assist you with questions every step along the way.

Computer requirements: You will complete the course entirely online. A dependable broadband internet connection with a Windows or Mac computer and Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download) are required. Some assignments will require you to upload a scanned or photographed project.

Policies

Schedule Changes

This schedule is subject to change without notice. If you have not received an official confirmation email prior to the first day of class, please contact us at (904) 620-4786 or info@iptm.org before traveling or making airline reservations.

Registration and Fees

Full payment must accompany all registrations. You may register online and pay with your Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express credit card, or you may download a Registration Form and mail it to IPTM with a check.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Complete the Cancellation Request Form and return it to IPTM. No telephone cancellations will be accepted. A 20% administrative fee will be assessed to all refunds if the cancellation request is received within 14 days of the course start date. In lieu of a refund, student substitutions can be made or a credit can be issued for a future course. No refunds will be given for no-shows. If materials for an online course were sent to the student, the appropriate materials and shipping costs will be deducted from the refund amount. Materials may be returned to IPTM in their original condition at the student's expense. Once IPTM has received and inspected them, the refund will be processed.

Due to the automated format of online independent study courses and Videos on Demand (VoDs), no refunds or substitutions can be made after registration.

Course Confirmations

A minimum number of registrations must be received for an in-person class to run as scheduled. When the minimum criterion has been met, written confirmation will be emailed to you. Please do not travel or make airline reservations until you receive written notification confirming that the course will run as scheduled.

Most locations are served by several major airlines. Transportation, food and lodging are the responsibility of the student.
