Traditional Azerbaijani slippers, known as jorab, are vibrant, hand-knitted wool slipper socks featuring intricate geometric patterns, commonly worn indoors for warmth. These handmade slippers are often made by artisans in rural Azerbaijan, and were traditionally made as part of a bride’s dowry.
This intermediate level knitting class combines intricate color-work, twined garter stitch, and an absolutely magical top-up cast on.
Physical ability notes: Good eyesight is needed for this class. Vision aids welcome.
A materials fee will be paid to the instructor in class: the pattern is $8 and optional bottoms are $15.
