Create a magical fiber landscape that reflects the essence of the North Woods. In this class we will be exploring various ways of capturing the unique naturescapes that enrich our lives.

Starting out, we will do some rust dyeing on cotton fabrics, leading into the use of various needle felting, embroidery, beading, and silk ribbon techniques to help us tell a story of our surroundings. The process will entail layering various fiber materials with needle felting in some cases and with hand sewing. Students may construct small samples for later reference or focus on making a small collage wall hanging, embellished penny rug, pillow top, or garland of the four seasons, as a few suggestions of the many possibilities. It will be a fun way to expand our imaginations as we collaborate on new ideas while working with a colorful palette of materials.

A wide variety of materials will be made available to individualize your interpretations. This will include wool, fabrics, embroidery thread, silk ribbon, beads, buttons, wool roving, yarn, pin backings, and regular ribbon.

Some hand sewing experience is required.
