This class is part workshop, part community. Cast on the Minnesota Loons Sweater together and leave with a colorwork sweater on your needles and the skills to finish it. We'll cover chart reading, knitting two-handed colorwork in the round, and fit so you can choose the right size before you cast on.

Prerequisite: comfortable knitting and purling. Experience with circular needles and colorwork is helpful, but not required.

Students will source their own yarn to bring to class. A detailed supply list will be provided at least 6 weeks before the class date.

Required Tools

• Pattern: Purchase the Minnesota Loons Sweater pattern online before class
• Yarn: Sport Weight yarn. Amounts vary by size, students will receive exact yardage at least 6 weeks before the class date. Plan for 1 main color and 1 contrast color.
• Needles: Two circular needle sizes (main and ribbing), suited to your gauge. For the sample: US 5 / 3.75 mm and US 4 / 3.5 mm, 32 to 40 inches. DPNs or small circulars work too if you prefer Magic Loop alternatives.
• Notions:
  • Stitch markers (about a dozen, plus one unique marker for beginning of round)
  • Smooth scrap yarn or stitch holders
  • Measuring tape
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Highlighter pen or tape (optional)

Note: Bring a finished gauge swatch to class if possible.
