Kick Sled Building: Push and Glide

Follow the tracks of generations of northern folks and take advantage of snow-covered roads, sidewalks, and trails by crafting a kick sled of birch wood this winter. In this class, students will learn both basic and advanced woodworking skills—from laminating wood for making runners to shaping a customized handlebar used for steering--and will walk (or glide) away from this course with some carpentry know-how, as well as a sled. Both hand tools and power tools will be used during the project. Up to two people may participate for the base tuition, so this is a great family project. A completed sled measures 72”L x 16”W x 36”H, but collapses for easy transport. With gloved hands, grip the handlebars, push, and glide!

Youth ages 8+ are welcome to register with an adult. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full-paying adult; call to register.
