If there is one thing that all North House students have in common, it is curiosity: how is this made, how do these tools work, and what can my hands do? This summer, we are offering a unique experience for those who want to try it all: a five-day “summer camp” sampler for adults. Each day, students will engage with a new skill, making small projects along the way. The week's learning experiences will include sessions focusing on textiles, Anishinaabe-style beadwork, hand tool woodworking, blacksmithing, and outdoor exploration of the North Shore's woods, flora, and fauna. Students have the opportunity to taste a bit of these core crafts, all rooted in examining our connection with the natural world. We’ll host a few evening gatherings, including a wood-fired pizza bake and harborside dinner on a stick. Expect to meet other curious learners who love craft and summertime on the North Shore. Days will end early (3pm) to allow folks free time to jump in the lake, visit a local watering hole, shop, go for a hike, and stay up late for stargazing. Registration is open to students ages 16+. A detailed schedule will be sent shortly in advance of the camp so you can make plans for each day.
