Understanding, Forecasting, and Photographing the Aurora Borealis

Learn how the aurora forms, when the best times are to see it, and how to photograph this amazing phenomenon with both a smartphone and digital/mirrorless camera. We’ll also explore key phone apps for star-finding and aurora-forecasting. Weather permitting, we’ll observe the planets and other sky objects through a telescope during the evening session . . . and maybe even see the aurora!

Class will meet from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, then again from 9:00 to 11:30 p.m.
