Convertible Bicycle Backpack: An Intro to Leather and Wood

Create a one-of-a-kind convertible bag that can be used as a backpack or clip onto your bicycle handlebars. With a vintage inspired look, this leather bag will have rounded wooden sides and close with two leather straps and buckles. An optional pocket can be added for additional storage. This wooden and leather bag will give students an introduction to basic woodworking and leatherworking.

This class will start in the milling shop where students will learn to safely cut out wooden pieces using a band saw and table mounted sander. The class will then transition to leatherworking fundamentals where students will learn how to set rivets, hand stitch leather, set snaps, and attach buckles.

This bag will let you bring all your essentials on your favorite bike ride or trek around the city!

Please measure dimensions and bring photos of your bike to class.

Students age 16+ may participate with an adult. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full paying adult; call to register.
