    Please note that this option does NOT include the additional half-day add-on focused on relocation to the Asheville area. 

    Cost: The fee for Creative Retirement Exploration Weekend (CREW) is $500 per person for Friday and Saturday only. Program costs include program administration, program materials, and meals each day (light breakfast and lunch Friday/Saturday and dinner Friday/Saturday).     Refunds: Payment is due at the time of registration. Registration is not complete until program fees are paid. Refunds will be issued for the program fee, less $25/person administrative charges for cancellations made by 5 p.m. up to 10 days prior to the program start date. For cancellations made less than 10 days prior to the program start date, 50% of the program fee will be refunded. Email olli@unca.edu to request cancellation and refund.

    The Gift of Time is a five-session course that is designed to encourage you to think about how to plan and communicate your end-of-life wishes to the important people in your life. The workshop takes place as an extended conversation with trained facilitators as well as invited speakers who will address legal, medical and spiritual issues and offer the tools to prepare an end-of-life plan. Registration is open to OLLI members only. The cost is $100, which includes program materials and administration. A 2025-2026 OLLI annual membership is required to register for this program.     The Gift of Time workshop will encourage you to think about how to plan and communicate your end of life wishes to spouses, partners, children and parents. Take control of what you want for yourself and help others address the myriad issues that face all of us in times of crisis.

    The workshop will be an extended conversation with trained facilitators as well as outside speakers who will converse holistically on key legal, medical and spiritual issues. The objective is to provide participants with compelling reasons to prepare an end of life plan and prepare them to deal with both the rational and emotional elements of such a plan.     Paths to Creative Retirement (Paths) focuses on the non-financial aspects of life’s second half; decision-making exercises and thought-provoking discussions reveal stimulating opportunities. Transform anxieties about your next chapter of life into a reassuring learning process—Paths is truly a unique retirement workshop.

    We invite you to consider questions such as:

    • When should I retire?
    • How will I spend my time after I stop or reduce my work?
    • How will I find purpose and meaning after I retire?
    • How will my identity change in retirement?
    • How will retirement affect my relationships with family and friends?
    • How do I investigate work and volunteer opportunities?
