Energy and Life

While energy does not depend on life, life very much depends on energy. This class will discuss some technical/scientific aspects of both energy and life. The class requires no prior knowledge of science, although curiosity helps. We will discuss the sources of energy and their manifestations, transmutations, and limitations, and how they support life in all its variety. We will also discuss how humanity (in contrast to all other forms of life) has appropriated many forms of energy to its advantage as well as its disadvantages (global warming and wars).
