Our main classroom spaces are at The Social Chico. The Social Chico has accessible parking. The classrooms are wheelchair accessible. The wheelchair-accessible restrooms are in the Central building at The Social Chico. See The Social Chico map to see where that is in relationship to our classrooms. The restrooms near the Bradley and Gordon classrooms have grab bars in some or all of the stalls. There are no automatic doors at The Social Chico. Click here for a map of The Social Chico.
Restrooms
Our main classroom spaces are at The Social Chico. The wheelchair-accessible restrooms are in the Central building at The Social Chico. See The Social Chico map to see where that is in relationship to our classrooms. The restrooms near the Bradley and Gordon classrooms have taller toilets and grab bars in at least one of stalls.
At this time, The Social Chico does not have all-gender restrooms. OLLI at Chico State understands that this is an access issue for trans and nonbinary people. You are welcome to use the restroom that best aligns with your gender identity or that you find most comfortable. Harassment based on actual or perceived gender identity or presentation will not be tolerated. If you experience any such harassment, please report it to the OLLI office at olli@csuchico.edu or 530-898-6679.
Seating
All four of our main classrooms at The Social Chico have a mix of chairs with arms and chairs without arms.
The tan chairs without arms in Bradley 1, Bradley 2, and Gordon 1 are rated for up to 800 pounds and the seats are 18.5 inches wide by 18 inches deep.
The green and red chairs without arms in Bradley 1 have seats 16 inches wide by 19 inches deep. They are older chairs and we don’t have a weight rating for them.
The red chairs without arms in Gordon 2 have seats 16.5 inches wide by 16.5 inches deep. They are older chairs and we don’t have a weight rating for them.
Hearing
Our main classroom spaces at The Social Chico have sound systems to amplify instructors’ voices, and reserved seating for those with visual or hearing difficulties. All of our class and event recordings have automatically generated closed captioning.
Vision and Lighting
Our main classroom spaces at The Social Chico have reserved seating for those with visual or hearing difficulties. The main classroom spaces have fluorescent lighting.
Scent
We ask participants not to wear fragrances to class to avoid triggering migraines, asthma attacks, and other conditions that can be affected by scents; however, we can’t guarantee that OLLI classes and programs are entirely scent-free spaces.
Online Classes
We offer many classes on Zoom for those who prefer to learn from home. We can provide training and assistance with learning to use Zoom. Email us at olli@csuchico.edu or call us at 530-898-6679 to schedule Zoom training.
If you have financial barriers to broadband internet, we encourage you to learn more about the Affordable Connectivity Program.
Financial Concerns
We don’t want financial concerns to prevent you from joining us at OLLI. We offer payment plans that allow you to spread your membership payment over 2 or 5 payments. We also offer a fee assistance program. Donations from our annual fundraising campaign are earmarked for these scholarships. Education Level
Whether you have a PhD or never finished high school, OLLI classes are for you. The only requirement for joining OLLI is an interest in learning.
COVID-19 Policy
Vaccinations are strongly encouraged and not required. Masks are optional and always welcome. There are HEPA air purifiers in all four of our main classrooms at The Social Chico. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or any other communicable illnesses, such as a cold or the flu, please stay home.
