NEW 10554 The Success and Influence of Show Boat NEW!

"Show Boat"is the 1927 Broadway musical by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein. Kern, father of American Musical Theater, based the show upon Edna Ferber's novel. It has complex characters and famous songs such as "Old Man River." We will watch two versions: the San Francisco Opera production and the MGM 1951 film. We will listen to some popular songs by Kern including "All the Things You Are." The instructor will also demonstrate from the piano.
