?Early Start Date Spotlight Series
Thursdays, September 24, October 8, November 12, November 19 (four sessions), 3:30–5 p.m. (40041, Seats: 25)
The University of Minnesota’s Spotlight Series is a collaboration between Northrop, the Institute for Advanced Study, and the University Honors Program, through which lectures, panel discussions, and other events related to timely topics are presented. Taking into consideration both the US Presidential election and the divisive response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s series focuses on polarization and identity.
In the current environment in which conversations amongst people with different identities and ideologies are becoming increasingly contentious, we hope to model ways to create meaningful dialogue about challenging topics. Sessions include:
September 24: Depolarizing America
October 8: Identities and Creative Processes
November 12: Will COVID-19 Turn the Generation Gap into a Chasm?
November 19: OLLI Exclusive! Debrief with Roxane Gudeman
Brianna Menning, MPA, Cornell University, is the Programs and Communications Manager at the Institute for Advanced Study. Member Roxane Gudeman is emerita professor of Psychology at Macalester College.
