THIS COURSE WAS CANCELLED AFTER THE SPRING GUIDE WAS SENT OUT. IT WILL BE OFFERED IN THE FALL.
Plato’s account of erotic passion most thoroughly and expressly addressed in his “Symposium” is far more nuanced and complex than many initially imagine. It is a major work and doing it justice will require the full 6 sessions of this class. An initial reading of Xenophon’s “Symposium” will be helpful and amusing; we will focus on Xenophon with particularity in the summer.
