Three factors are causing an unprecedented “perfect storm” of vulnerability to fraud and identity theft: the ongoing pandemic with its uncertainty and isolation, rapid advances in consumer technology, and sluggish consumer protections. New scams emerge almost daily, often using the same proven psychological tactics. Knowing about these makes people far less likely to be victimized.
In three sessions, we’ll cover the scams and strategies employed by criminals, ideas for device and home network cybersecurity, and consumer protections against fraud and identity theft.
