20538 Survival of the Fittest? Myths and Misconceptions about Evolution

What does it mean to be fit? While we might think of raw speed and strength, Biology has a different definition of fitness. This course will explore key pieces of evolutionary theory by discussing common misconceptions about concepts like fitness, the purpose of traits like the Kiwi’s giant egg, and other big questions on evolution. Along the way we will consider how these misconceptions affect the world at large, as well as tackle questions about our own species’ place in the story of life.
