50071 Lillie’s Stories: The History of the Gibbs Farm

Much of what we know about the Gibbs Farm, Ramsey Cty, is grounded in stories of one of its first residents: Lillie Belle Gibbs. Drawing on historical research and stories from Grasshoppers in My Bed, Lillie Belle Gibbs – Minnesota Farm Girl, 1877, this course will focus on local history, why it’s relevant, and how we tell it.

Both sessions are at the Gibbs Farm and will include a tour of the historic Gibbs farmhouse; wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Free parking is available off Cleveland Avenue. The site will be open until 3:00 p.m. following the session on June 23; bring a lunch, explore the grounds, and learn about the Gibbs family.
