30925 Russian Foreign Policy since 1992

After the break-up of the USSR, Russia declared itself an ally of the West. In the past 30 years the evolution of Russian foreign policy, including the desire to recreate the Russian Empire and the break-down of relations with the West, has led to the worst relations since the height of the Cold War. In this four-lecture series, Professor Noonan will describe the post-Soviet honeymoon with the West, the gradual shift in foreign policy, the evolving doctrine of Eurasianism, and a desire to revive the historic Russian Empire, manifest in the current "special military action " (war) in Ukraine.
