30933 Circumnavigators of the Early Modern World

This course will introduce three early circumnavigators using rare books and maps from the James Ford Bell Library. Focusing on Ferdinand Magellan, William Dampier, and Louis-Antoine, Comte de Bougainville, we will consider contexts, biographies, routes, goals, and outcomes of these epic voyages.
