30936 Will US Democracy Survive 2026?

In 1997 William Strauss and Neil Howe predicted that the United States would face a political crisis, a fourth turning, "around the year 2005, then the climax will be due around 2020, the resolution around 2026. " Social psychologist Jonathan Haidt identifies three issues that must be addressed for US democracy to survive the present crisis: 1) strengthening democratic institutions, 2) the role and regulation of social media, and 3) the current crisis in public education. We will watch, analyze and discuss Haidt's presentation "Democracy After Babel. "
