30941 Housing Realities and Imaginaries from the Long Depression of 1873 to the New Deal
Building on material covered in last spring's "Housing for Humans ", this class considers alternative visions for social housing in the context of urbanization, migration and industrialization. We move from late nineteenth century slums and reformist solutions to socialist cities in western Europe, international exchanges among architects and planners, state-built housing in the Soviet Union and end with US policies and projects in the decade before World War II.
