10754 The Music of Aaron Copland
Aaron Copland (1900–1990) was one of the greatest and best-loved composers born in the United States, best known for his ballets Appalachian Spring and Rodeo and The Fanfare for the Common Man, works that are justly famed for their patriotic appeals and idealization of American rural life besides the enormous intrinsic merit of their musical materials. Little known is a large body of other works that do not include nationalistic gestures and are much more in touch with compositional trends shared between Europe and the United States during the mid-20th century.
