30951 F. Scott Fitzgerald: The Role of Illustration in His Short Stories
Fitzgerald's short stories appeared in mass media magazines of the '20s and '30s, often with illustrations. Readers since have experienced only the text in published collections. You will learn the contributions these illustrations made to the experience of readers of the time. Different techniques and processes will be presented. You will see original images of over 60 pages containing one or more illustrations. Many of these are from The Saturday Evening Post which published 66 of his approximately 166 short stories, but there are some from The Metropolitan, Hearst's, and others.
