This class shares the love and art of making traditional Lumpia, a Filipino staple, and loved food throughout the west coast. Lumpia is a popular Filipino dish, from a country of over 115 million. It can be likened to a spring roll or egg roll, with a vast variety of ways to prepare, with fillings as diverse as the Filipino people. This class will teach you how to prepare it at home for all to enjoy!

Explore the principles of permaculture and discover how to apply sustainable, regenerative design to a garden or other outdoor space. In this two-hour introductory class, participants will learn how to facilitate healthy, low-maintenance ecosystems that work in harmony with nature. Whether you have a small garden, a large yard, or a community space, this class will provide you with a solid starting point for making any green space more productive, resilient, and environmentally friendly.

No prior experience is required—anyone with an interest in gardening is welcome.

Suggested supplies: a notebook or paper, and a pencil with eraser.

Explore the timeless craft of bookbinding in this hands-on workshop where you'll create two beautiful handmade journals while learning both Coptic and Case binding techniques. Over two evening sessions, students will sew pages, construct covers, assemble book boards, and work with decorative papers to create books that are both functional and artistic.

The class is structured to allow time for adhesives to cure between sessions, providing an opportunity to experience the complete process used in traditional hardcover book construction. 

Along the way, you'll learn about paper selection, book structure, and finishing techniques. Finished books measure approximately 5 × 7 inches and can be used as journals, sketchbooks, recipe collections, or keepsakes. 

All materials are included, though students are welcome to bring favorite 12x12 cardstock papers and/or personal photos or mementos to personalize book covers.

How does sound healing work? When our bodies are in a state of inflammation or stress, our cells vibrate at a faster rate than our natural frequency. After prolonged periods of stress, it can become like a disease in the body, mind, and spirit. Humans are mostly water, and sound waves move through our bodies like ripples in a lake or ocean. When our bodies align with the resonance of sound, we strengthen our life force energy and feel better. Sound healing benefits everyone but can especially help those looking to reset their nervous system, relax the body, and calm the mind.

The class will have guided meditations that begin each sound experience, which are also wonderful for those who desire a deeper mind/body connection and want to tap into their imagination in new ways.

Students should bring a yoga mat or something comfortable to lay on and wear comfortable clothing and bring anything they need to feel cozy (pillows, blankets, etc.)

This class covers the steps for obtaining approval from a local government body before undertaking building or renovation work.  It includes the process to issue a project drawing for permit.

Teamwork is an introductory course designed to provide learners with a foundational understanding of effective collaboration in group settings.  The course covers the characteristics of successful teams, decision-making in teams, leadership in teams, basic project planning & time management, and goal setting.  

By the end of Teamwork, students should have acquired a comprehensive understanding of effective teamwork principles and practices.   

A certificiate will be provided for students that complete all five classes in the series.

Become a certified flagger by learning safety for both the public and fellow employees. Learn how to manage interference from vehicle/pedestrian traffic, learn proper use of traffic control devices and other flagger duties. Certification issued upon passing exam.

Students who successfully pass the course receive a certification valid for three years in Washington and an additional certification accepted nationally.

A hard‑cider‑making class that feels as comfortable as your own kitchen: In this two‑day, hands‑on workshop, you’ll move step‑by‑step through the full cider‑making journey—from fermentation basics to separating, filtering, back‑flavoring, and carbonation. Each participant receives the materials needed to produce three liters of cider crafted to their own taste.

Class comes to completion with a short hike through the forest adjacent to the hatchery which has been fertilized and fed by years of Salmon carcasses.

In this short, hands on workshop, you’ll practice drawing, layering, and creative mark making to capture both character and environment. Line dance is taught in a fun, friendly, and inclusive environment.  During each session, in addition to learning a variety of line dances, you’ll also learn and become familiar with dance steps, terminology, and the counts for each of the dances taught.

Are you job ready? Job Search Preparation offers learners an introductory exploration into the fundamental principles of effective applying for and interviewing for jobs. By the end of the class students will be equipped to prepare effectively, showcase their qualifications and experiences, articulate their strengths, and answer interview questions with poise and professionalism.  A certificiate will be provided for students that complete all five classes in the series.

Thoughtful composition, subtle details, and expressive use of line and color can build the atmosphere and meaning of your work. This workshop blends technique and intuition to help you create evocative, poetically inspired mixed-media pieces.

Through guided exercises and the study of famous artists, you will explore core concepts such as perspective, the rule of thirds, and tonal composition. 

Over two sessions, you will practice thumbnail sketching, prepare photo transfers, and develop a final drawing. By the end, you’ll complete a dynamic mixed-media piece and gain a deeper understanding of the creative process.

Learn how to create clear and polished marketing graphics for your business using Canva.

Canva is an easy-to-use online design tool that allows anyone to produce professional looking visuals without needing prior design experience. In this two-session class, the first evening focuses on social media graphics. You will learn to use templates, choose fonts and colors, and export graphics sized correctly for common platforms. The second evening focuses on your website and email newsletter. 

We will create a homepage banner, a blog or page header image, and a simple email newsletter header.

You will leave class with ready to use graphics and the confidence to update and maintain your visuals over time.

Students should have access to a computer (desktop/laptop) and access to a Canva account (the free version is fine).

Get familiar with web-based project management systems and how they streamline construction workflows. The class also explores emerging technologies, including AI, and how they’re enhancing efficiency, safety, and decision-making in the industry.

Hidden beneath the mossy forest floor, Pacific Northwest truffles are one of nature’s most elusive and extraordinary culinary treasures.  Truffles grow underground, give no visible sign, and are worthless if harvested early — which is why the best truffle hunters in the world work with a dog. 

This session goes inside that partnership: what a dog is actually smelling, how to read one at work, and what it takes to train your own. Includes live footage of working dogs, an honest look at which dogs make good candidates (hint: it isn't about breed), and what a changing climate means for where we hunt this season.

This course will introduce you to iNaturalist, the leading tool in Community Science, and show you how to contribute to real scientific data with your everyday observations of plants, mushrooms, birds, bugs, and everything in between! 

We’ll cover how to actually navigate through the app and website, how to take good photos for identification, and how to search through iNaturalist’s robust observation database to learn more about the life around you.

In this one day workshop Coral will teach you how to make your own mushroom log using fresh cut logs and mushroom spawn plugs. You will be able to take home and keep your log once inoculated and grow your own edible mushrooms at home.

This course will teach you how to build and inoculate your homemade mushroom logs. Learn how to develop your own series of mushroom logs for year round culinary mushrooms.

The instructor will supply Alder and some Douglas Fir.  If your plugs thrive in another species, please feel free to bring in your own log:

• Lion's Mane, Shitake and Oyster can grow on Maple.
• Shitake and Lions Mane can grow on Douglas Fir.
• Shitake and Oyster can grow on Alder.
• Oyster, Lion's Mane and Shitake can grow on Apple and most Fruit Tree Wood.

This is an educational lecture about the hallucinogenic and psychoactive mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest. The Northwest corner of the United States is a hotbed of "active" species of mushrooms.

Join Aaron Hilliard-mycology educator and YouTube personality as he explains what these mushrooms are, their history and origins, and the specific species that grow in the beautiful evergreen state.

Some of these non-assuming mushrooms contain extremely powerful chemicals but can be tricky to identify. Aaron will elucidate these species with colorful photos and vivid descriptions, as well as some anecdotal stories.

In this two evening session, you will learn how to transfer a design, safely carve a linoleum block, apply ink, and create multiple prints from a single carving. Join us and acquire a basic understanding of fungi ecosystems. This class is for outdoors lovers, scientists, naturalists, herbalists, foragers, and chefs.

Become a certified flagger by learning safety for both the public and fellow employees. Learn how to manage interference from vehicle/pedestrian traffic, learn proper use of traffic control devices and other flagger duties. Certification issued upon passing exam.

Students who successfully pass the course receive a certification valid for three years in Washington and an additional certification accepted nationally.

How does sound healing work? When our bodies are in a state of inflammation or stress, our cells vibrate at a faster rate than our natural frequency. After prolonged periods of stress, it can become like a disease in the body, mind, and spirit. Humans are mostly water, and sound waves move through our bodies like ripples in a lake or ocean. When our bodies align with the resonance of sound, we strengthen our life force energy and feel better. Sound healing benefits everyone but can especially help those looking to reset their nervous system, relax the body, and calm the mind.

The class will have guided meditations that begin each sound experience, which are also wonderful for those who desire a deeper mind/body connection and want to tap into their imagination in new ways.

Students should bring a yoga mat or something comfortable to lay on and wear comfortable clothing and bring anything they need to feel cozy (pillows, blankets, etc.)

Filipino Flan is a silky custard dessert topped with a rich caramel sauce. Leche flan is the Filipino version—a custard made with only egg yolks, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla. If you go to a Filipino holiday dinner, Leche flan is a common dessert found at most parties. Learn how to make it at home in time for the holidays!

Explore mixed media techniques inspired by nature. In this short, hands on workshop, you’ll practice drawing, layering, and creative mark making to capture both character and environment. Whether you’re new to art or building your skills, you’ll leave with a finished piece, new mixed media confidence, and a deeper understanding of your materials.

This session's subject will be Black-Capped Chickadees on winter branches filled with berries .

Learn Maintenance and Repair Basics: Hands-on training for building trades careers 

This comprehensive 200‑hour program offered through Tessera is designed to give you foundational, hands‑on skills across core building trades: basic carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. This training prepares you for general maintenance roles, OSHA credentials, and further opportunities. 

All applicants must pass a background check to be considered for enrollment. Because this program is fully inclusive and serves individuals who may be considered vulnerable, we are required to follow the DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions. Candidates who meet these requirements will be eligible to move forward to attend an instructor-led screening.   Final acceptance into the program requires instructor approval. Applicants will be contacted after applying to complete a Washington State Patrol Background Check Authorization form. 

About this class: 

• Application is open to all, ages 18 and over
• Applicants with a disability are strongly encouraged to apply  
• Students must pass a background check based on DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions
• Students must be able to make decisions independently 
• Students must be able to safely perform fine and gross motor tasks 
• Classes are small and hands-on, with 2 instructors guiding 20 adult students
• Tessera will pay students a stipend of $18.75 per hour
• Learn to use power saws, drills, and nail guns 
• Classes will be held at West Sound Technical Skill Center
• Work with a team of people on maintaining and repairing facilities equipment

Let’s get moving! Come unlock your body and mind and find your inner voice. This movement practice will allow you to feel good in your body and will support a positive body image for participants of all ages. 

The class will provide the opportunity to build connection and community with others. If you are looking to carve out some time for yourself, tap into your creativity, manage stress, and increase health and well being this class is for you!

You will first be guided through modern dance warm ups, stretching, strengthening, and conditioning followed by improvisation and movement generating activities. This is a great class for new moms or anyone looking for a gentle and fun way to get back in touch with your body.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of DC electrical principles, preparing them for advanced training opportunities. This course serves as an excellent entry point for individuals looking to enter the rapidly growing field of electric vehicle technology.

Step into the world of social dance with this exciting series featuring waltz, tango, and salsa! Guided by LB Bryant of Port Orchard Dance, you’ll learn the fundamentals of each style—from the graceful flow of the waltz to the dramatic flair of tango and the lively rhythms of salsa. Perfect for beginners or those looking to refine their skills, these classes focus on movement, musicality, and connection. No partner required—singles are always welcome!

Salsa is a high-energy, Latin dance which still thrives in social settings, including clubs world wide.  Its roots are anchored in Afro-Caribbean culture. It is characterized by a rapid, intricate, rhythmic footwork, and a three-step weight change, often enhanced with a sensual  flavor.

The class is intended for those who want additional practice or for those who want to try out the pottery wheel for the first time but unsure if they want to commit to a class. By the end of class students will have a single glazed piece and will understand ceramic terms like bat, rams head, coning, opening, leather hard, bone dry, bisque and glaze.
