This class begins on the Poulsbo Seaside, shooting photos of the bird and marine life as well as water vessels.

Class will then head over to the OC Poulsbo Campus, to critique and discuss techniques and ideas of the photos taken.

Step outside and discover the joy of painting directly from nature in this relaxing plein air watercolor workshop. We’ll explore essential principles of outdoor painting—how to choose dynamic compositions, simplify complex scenes, and start with confident sketches before building luminous layers of watercolor. Enjoy the freedom and versatility of the medium while capturing the beauty of Silverdale’s Sound Side, including the occasional cameo of Mt. Rainier.

Offered in partnership with Kitsap Art Center, this class welcomes curious beginners and seasoned artists alike. The class will meet at an offsite location in Silverdale. Location will be sent to students prior to the session.

Homesteading Basics is an introductory course designed for individuals interested in developing practical skills for small-scale, self-sufficient Homesteading. 

Participants in this course will examine essential homesteading subjects, including selecting suitable small animal livestock, basic animal husbandry techniques, and considerations for housing and feeding, while also managing time and costs effectively and integrating sustainable practices into daily routines.

Individuals attending the program will develop an understanding of the realistic requirements for starting homesteading activities in the Pacific Northwest, specifically focusing on small-acreage and backyard-scale operations.

Explore the fascinating art of cyanotype, a photographic process that uses light-sensitive chemicals to create distinctive blue prints. In this two-hour workshop, students will learn how to prepare materials, select objects for printing, expose designs using sunlight or UV lamps, and properly develop and preserve their artwork. 

You'll also discover creative ways to enhance prints through natural toning techniques.

This course will cover the planning considerations and operational process for starting and running a mobile food business. The course will cover financial planning, operational and logistical processes as well as administrative requirements for starting and operating a mobile food business. 

We will conduct a detailed financial analysis of what it takes to start and operate a food business and examine how to start, grow and develop a food business.

The class will be based on the instructor's personal journey running a local mobile food business and include lessons learned from his own experiences and observed from watching other peer businesses. 

All participants will also share a Santa Maria Style BBQ Sandwich dinner plate cooked on site by Pedro's Santa Maria Style BBQ. 

Explore Mount St. Helens in person with an experienced guide as we uncover the geologic events leading to the 1980 eruption of the most active volcano in the Cascade Range. We will discuss what first shaped the mountain and the local and regional physiological reactions as this massive explosion shaped a landscape.
 
We will see first-hand how the ecosystem has recovered over the five decades since the catastrophic events that forever changed over 230,000 square miles of forest. 

The Silver Lake area where we will first meet is free to all participants, however as we travel through the national park, there may be additional fees for access. You will need to have transportation to the mountain and from site to site.

Learn Maintenance and Repair Basics: Hands-on training for building trades careers 

This comprehensive 160‑hour program offered through Tessera is designed to give you foundational, hands‑on skills across core building trades: basic carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. This training prepares you for general maintenance roles, OSHA credentials, and further opportunities. 

All applicants must pass a background check to be considered for enrollment. Because this program is fully inclusive and serves individuals who may be considered vulnerable, we are required to follow the DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions. Candidates who meet these requirements will be eligible to move forward to attend an instructor-led screening.   Final acceptance into the program requires instructor approval. Applicants will be contacted after applying to complete a Washington State Patrol Background Check Authorization form.

Swing dance is a group of lively, energetic partner dances that evolved with swing jazz music in African American communities during the 1920s–1940s.

It is characterized by syncopated rhythms, improvisation, and a triple step rhythm, guaranteed to get your heart rate up.

Line dance is taught in a fun, friendly, and inclusive environment.  During each session, in addition to learning a variety of line dances, you’ll also learn and become familiar with dance steps, terminology, and the counts for each of the dances taught.

This introductory class will give students an overview to estimating construction project. Sample spreadsheets will be provided and the teacher will demonstrate how you can use spreadsheets and software to improve your estimating.  Students will leave the class understanding the steps to bidding a construction project, be it a completely new home build or just a remodel of an existing home or room.

Workplace Communications is an introductory course designed to provide learners with a foundational understanding of effective communication skills to bolster their careers.
The course covers active listening techniques, written and digital communication, cultural sensitivity and diversity in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.  
By the end of the class, students should have acquired a comprehensive set of communication skills, enabling them to engage effectively in various personal and professional contexts while fostering positive relationships and understanding diverse perspectives. A certificiate will be provided for students that complete all five classes in the series.

Discover the art of leatherworking in this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop. You'll learn the essential techniques used to create durable, handcrafted leather goods, including tooling and stamping, edge finishing, dyeing, hand stitching, and setting simple hardware.

This hike traverses 1,000 feet of elevation gain—with a spectacular summit reward waiting at the top with views of the Olympic Mountain range, Mt Tahoma & Mt Baker, and the Seattle Skyline.

As we climb through shifting forest layers and overlook the Puget Lowland, we will earn about the geologic history of the region, including how glaciers carved Green Mountain into its distinctive “whaleback” shape and shaped the surrounding terrains, including several deep fjords. Come ready for hiking along elevation changes.  Bring ample water, and dress for whatever October weather the area has to offer that day.

Learn how to make soft, pillowy gnocchi from scratch in this hands-on online class. You’ll mix, shape, and cook gnocchi using a simple, approachable method that gives you consistent results every time.

We’ll pair it with a rich brown butter sage sauce and caramelized butternut squash. The dish is warm, nutty, and balanced with just the right brightness. You’ll leave with the confidence to make gnocchi from scratch, handle dough without overthinking it, and build a complete, restaurant-style dish at home.

Explore the timeless craft of bookbinding in this hands-on workshop where you'll create two beautiful handmade journals while learning both Coptic and Case binding techniques. Over two evening sessions, students will sew pages, construct covers, assemble book boards, and work with decorative papers to create books that are both functional and artistic.

The class is structured to allow time for adhesives to cure between sessions, providing an opportunity to experience the complete process used in traditional hardcover book construction. 

Along the way, you'll learn about paper selection, book structure, and finishing techniques. Finished books measure approximately 5 × 7 inches and can be used as journals, sketchbooks, recipe collections, or keepsakes. 

All materials are included, though students are welcome to bring favorite 12x12 cardstock papers and/or personal photos or mementos to personalize book covers.

This class covers the steps for obtaining approval from a local government body before undertaking building or renovation work.  It includes the process to issue a project drawing for permit. 

Expeditor assistance and scheduling inspections will be additionally be discussed.

Teamwork is an introductory course designed to provide learners with a foundational understanding of effective collaboration in group settings.  The course covers the characteristics of successful teams, decision-making in teams, leadership in teams, basic project planning & time management, and goal setting.  

By the end of Teamwork, students should have acquired a comprehensive understanding of effective teamwork principles and practices.   

A certificiate will be provided for students that complete all five classes in the series.

During this immersive field experience, you will follow the salmon's journey from tiny fertilized eggs to ocean travelers and their astonishing return to freshwater to spawn. Learn how hatchery biologists and tribal partners manage each life stage through careful broodstock selection, spawning techniques, rearing practices, and strategies that protect genetic diversity. Whether you are curious about ecology, fisheries, or tribal stewardship, this visit offers a deeper understanding of the science and culture behind healthy salmon runs. 

Class comes to completion with a short hike through the forest adjacent to the hatchery which has been fertilized and fed by years of Salmon carcasses.

Celebrate the season with handmade art in this beginner-friendly linocut printmaking workshop. 

In this two evening session, you will learn how to transfer a design, safely carve a linoleum block, apply ink, and create multiple prints from a single carving. Choose from a variety of supplied patterns or create your own design to produce greeting cards, gift tags, and small art prints perfect for gifting, decorating, or framing. 

No drawing skills are required as traceable designs will be available. You'll also gain an understanding of printmaking tools, materials, and techniques, including image transfer, carving methods, inking, and registration. 

All materials are included and you’ll go home with your re-usable stamps, plus at least 6 cards or prints.

Learn to dance the cha-cha in a fun, friendly and supportive class taught by an experienced dancer. The cha-cha is a lively, flirtatious dance originating in 1950s Cuba. It is characterized by small, fast steps, hip movements, and a distinctive triple-step (chassé) danced to a 4/4 rhythm. Come dance with us!
