Registering for and Gifting Classes
Am I eligible to register and when should I register for classes?
Generally, if you see a class you want, and the button says “Add to Cart” you can register! Our classes are open to all, 16 years of age and older, with some exceptions. There is no admission procedure, and you do not need to be a matriculated student to register for CE classes.
We recommend that students register early (at least 5 days prior to the start of class) to reserve a spot before classes fill and to avoid class cancellation. We cancel classes with low enrollments 3-7 days before class starts, and your registration can make the difference.
I have a student or faculty account with Olympic College already, why can't I log in?
You will need an account specifically for registering for our Continuing Education classes, created here with its own login credentials. Your regular Olympic College student or faculty account login won't work on this site.
Can I register for or gift a class to someone else?
Yes! We often have community members and administrators who need to register for a class on behalf of a colleague or friend. Plus our classes make great gifts! Email ContinuingEd@olympic.edu with the class and their name so we can check if they already have an account. Either way, our staff can help walk you through the next steps for completing a registration or gifting a class.
How can we register a group for a class?
Sure! We believe friends who learn together, laugh together. While you can each register for the class separately, if you’d like to register together, email us with the class and the size of your group at ContinuingEd@olympic.edu. If there are enough spots in the class, we can help coordinate enrollment.
Dropping Classes, Missing Classes, and Cancellation of Classes
How can I drop a class?
We’re sad to see you go. But if you need to cancel a registration and withdraw from a class, email us at ContinuingEd@olympic.edu before the class starts. Since we follow the college’s policy for zero credit classes, for a full refund, you must withdraw 5 days prior to the start of the class. We will refund 90% of fees for withdrawals from one to four days prior to the start of class. Since we need minimum enrollment numbers to run classes, it is important to let us know as soon as possible so we can notify other students if a cancellation is required.
I missed a class – can I make it up?
Sometimes? If you give us advance notice if you need to miss a class, we will do our best to help you change your registration. Generally, CE classes do not have make-up days. If you are enrolled in a class series and need to miss one of the scheduled days, we will not be able to refund or prorate your registration fee. However, in some cases the instructor may be able to provide materials covered during the class, such as presentations or notes.
What if a session is canceled due to weather?
If Olympic College closes campus due to inclement weather or emergencies, Continuing Education classes will also be canceled. While we do our best to email every student, it is in your best interest to stay informed. Olympic College closure will be announced on the website and social media channels. Sign up for text alerts here. When classes are canceled due to inclement weather or emergency situations, Continuing Education will schedule makeup class sessions if possible.
What happens if my class is canceled or rescheduled?
We will make every attempt to notify students of any class cancellations or schedule changes. Please check the website and your emails for the most up-to-date class information. Often, we can transfer your registration to another class you’re interested in. If not, we work with our cashiering office to refund your full class fee.
What is the minimum enrollment for a class to run? Why is there a minimum enrollment?
Community education programs are supported by course fees; therefore, courses must meet minimum enrollments to cover costs. We don’t like to, but sometimes we have to cancel courses with low enrollment. When courses are canceled, we make every effort to notify students by email before the start date. If a course is canceled, students may choose to transfer to another course within the same quarter. Otherwise, they will receive a full refund. Classes with low enrollment may also be rescheduled. If you are enrolled in a class that is rescheduled, you will receive notification of the new class dates. You have the option to cancel your registration if necessary.
Credit, Payment, Financial Aid and Discounts
Can I earn college credit through these classes?
No, our classes aren’t eligible for college credit. Some classes may offer clock hours or certificates upon completion.
Is financial aid available?
Since CE classes are non-credit, they do not qualify for financial aid.
Are there senior discounts available?
Sorry. CE classes are not for credit so discounts for seniors and the senior waiver do not apply.
Are there military discounts available?
CE classes typically do not qualify for veteran funding. You can contact Olympic College’s Military Veteran Programs (MVP) office with any questions.
Do you offer payment plans?
We do not offer payment plans. All classes must be paid for in full before a student can attend.
Do you offer prorated fees?
We are unable to prorate classes, so the full class fee is required for registration.
Are fees different if you are considered in-state or out-of-state?
All classes are the same fee, regardless of your residency.
Code of Conduct and Accessibility
What accessibility & accommodations can you provide?
Please review Olympic College’s policy about accessibility and accommodations. We follow those policies. If you need accommodations or have questions about accessibility, you can email ContinuingEd@olympic.edu.
What is your code of conduct & community standards?
Please review Olympic College’s Community Standards for information on this.
Children
Can I bring a child with me to classes?
Please review Olympic College’s policy about children on campus. Some of our classes do allow students under the age of 16 to attend, however they will need to be with an adult. Both the child and the adult will need to register and pay for class. Email us if you have a question about a specific class.
Do you offer classes for kids?
Our classes are open to all, 16 years of age and older, with some exceptions. Currently we do not offer courses for unaccompanied students under 16, but that may change in the future.
