    • Teaching Grammar, Reading, and Writing to English Language Learners
    • and will create a practicum portfolio.

This certification course is broken down into 5 separate online mini-sessions:

    Module 1: 8/26 - 10/11

    Module 2: 10/21- 12/6

    Module 4: 1/13- 2/28

    Module 5: 3/10- 4/25

Module: TESOL Practicum Portfolio- 5/5- 5/30 (optional)

A TESOL Certificate is one of the tools that can help people qualify to teach English to non-native English speakers either abroad or in English-speaking countries. Though a TESOL Certification is not required in all teaching jobs for English language learners, it certainly opens the doors to many more opportunities. Successful completion will result in students' receiving an internationally recognized (non-credit) TESOL Certification.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), ESL learners number over 5 million students and comprise about 10%  of the entire student body in U.S. K-12 classrooms. In addition, more than one billion people are learning English worldwide. So the demand for ESL teachers with TESOL credentials is very high.

PLU students/staff/alumni receive a $200 discount at registration. Please email ce@plu.edu for information.

    Payment plan available.

Course is online and mostly self-study. Some class meetings, times to be arranged.

Please review our Deadlines & Refunds policy, as well as our Withdrawal process.
