Introduction to Akkadian

Ancient Akkadian is the earliest documented Semitic language, and was used for thousands of years throughout the ancient Near East. It's the language of the famous stele of Hammurabi, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and countless other documents. This class will familiarize students with the basics of Akkadian grammar and the cuneiform writing system.
