Intro to Printmaking   

Learn to decipher various forms of fine art printmaking and produce images in relief, intaglio, and monotype. We will look at and discuss example works from the four families of printmaking, then get our hands dirty creating small editions of our own works on paper using both hand printing techniques and an etching press. No experience necessary.

Most equipment and supplies provided. Please view student supply list and purchase before class.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn to distinguish between common printmaking processes
  • Carve and print an image using relief
  • Etch and print an image using drypoint
  • Experiment with monotype techniques
  • Print multiples of images via hand printing (relief) and use of intaglio press (etching and monotype)
