Model Diplomacy: Conflict in the East China Sea

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is an independent, nonpartisan membership organization, think tank, and publisher dedicated to furthering understanding of the world and foreign policy choices facing the United States. Their Model Diplomacy curriculum is a free, interactive online program (www.modeldiplomacy.cfr.org) that uses role-play to demonstrate the challenges shaping U.S. foreign policy in an interconnected world. Course participants will take on roles of actors on the U.S. National Security Council, researching and then advising the President on the best action in the case of an escalating territorial dispute between Japan and China in the East China Sea, one that could easily entangle U.S. military or maritime operations.
