Scientists and sages agree that we are beings of energy. Learn time-tested solutions for awakening your energy body and focusing that energy in support of an inner practice of concentration.
This series is designed to energize participants with breathing and stretching in preparation for a 15 minute practice of an ancient and effective mind-centering meditation technique intended for relaxation and mental clarity. The class will take place in an outdoor setting where students will have an opportunity to learn the "why" and "how" of techniques before practicing them.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Students will gain an understanding that all of life is composed of energy.
- Students will gain movement strategies for awakening and focusing their energy.
- Students will gain awareness of the benefits of a diaphragmatic breath .
- Students will become aware of the ways that their breathing affects their state of either mental agitation or inner calm.
- Students will learn strategies to withdraw their energy from outer awareness in order to support a practice of being inwardly centered.
- Students will develop the understanding that with practice they can rewire the brain for relaxed concentration.
Requirements: Students need the mobility to access an outdoor class site, perhaps including a few stairs, and to stretch while standing or seated.
