    Learn the basics of at-home mushroom cultivation from basic lab work techniques to fruiting conditions and harvesting. Course will include a combination of demonstrations, lecture and workshops for hands-on experience. Over three weeks, learn lab work and sterilization techniques, pasteurization methods and substrate making, and fruiting conditions including best practices for harvesting your mushrooms. All materials are included!

    Part 1: Sterilization: Set up a sterile environment for collecting spores and put them in a growing medium. Learn to sterilize grain for inoculation.

    Part 2: Pasteurization: Using sawdust or straw, learn hot water pasteurization techniques to build your grow kit.

    Part 3: Fruiting and Harvesting: How to care for your grow kit to maximize harvest and best techniques for harvesting your mushrooms!

    By the end of this course, students should have a basic understanding of mushroom cultivation and how to successfully grow mushrooms on their own at home.

    This all-levels class combines yoga postures, breathing exercise, meditation, and relaxation to help improve strength, flexibility, balance, concentration, and stress management. Classes will focus on building a strong foundation based on the principles of alignment, so expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement. This experience is suitable for those new to yoga as well as seasoned practitioners seeking a continued understanding of basic yoga poses. Participants should dress in comfortable layered clothing they can move freely in. A limited number of yoga mats and props are available to borrow, so you're encouraged to bring your own if you have them.

    Zen is an ancient way of life that emphasizes being more present to what is happening, moment after moment. In this gentle, interactive class you will learn about bringing the spirit of Zen mindfulness to your daily activities and in focused meditation.

    Zen Buddhism developed over centuries in China, Japan, and Korea, but is now practiced around the world. In this gentle introductory class the emphasis will be on the spirit of Zen, through lectures, in-class guided meditations, short films and readings, and mindfulness practices to try at home.

    Student Learning Outcomes: Students will know more about Zen and mindfulness, and will have simple, supportive ways to bring more mindfulness to daily life.

    Try Tai Chi, a "soft" martial art that naturally reduces stress while improving circulation, balance, health, and more.

    Healing Tai Chi has been practiced for thousands of years by many Asian cultures. The practice of these "soft" movement may have numerous health benefits, including an increased sense of relaxation, improved blood flow, muscle tone, and better balance. The course includes demonstrations and exercises; students will have lots of practice performing Tai Chi forms and Tai Chi fan.

    Students 14 years and older may enroll if accompanied by a parent or adult guardian over 18 registered and participating in the same class.

    This course helps participants thoughtfully downsize their homes, belongings, and habits - without overwhelm or regret. Rather than focusing on "getting rid of stuff," the course helps clarify what to keep, how to let go with gratitude and imagining an ideal next chapter you can step into with intention and ease.

    It's ideal for:

    • Empty nesters or retirees
    • People preparing for a move (smaller home, apartment, RV, or seasonal living)
    • Anyone feeling stuck, sentimental, or overwhelmed by possessions

    Downsizing isn't just about having less - it's about living better. This supportive, hands-on course will guide you through the emotional and practical sides of downsizing, whether you're preparing for a move, entering a new life chapter, or simply wanting a lighter, more manageable home. You will learn how to clarify priorities, make confident decisions about what to keep, and create systems that support a joyful life.

    Through discussion, reflection, and simple at-home exercises, you will leave with practical tools, a clear plan, and renewed confidence to move forward - at your own pace and on your own terms.

    By the end of this course, students will be able to:

    • Identify personal values and priorities to guide downsizing decisions
    • Understand common emotional roadblocks (sentimentality, guilt, "just in case" thinking) '
    • Apply proven decision-making frameworks for sorting and letting go

    Thwaaack!! The sound of an arrow hitting the target, hopefully the 10 ring! Target archery can be enjoyed in a wide variety of ways, from a meditative part of your day all the way to Olympic competition. This class is designed to get students started on what ever archery path they choose.

    This class will be hands on, always! Hands on training aids, bows, arrows, targets, range set up will all be part of the class. There will be next to zero talking head time!

    We will use basic recurve bows with low draw weight to learn shot mechanics and range procedures. Toward the end of class, student questions about purchasing their own equipment would be addressed. All supplies are provided.

    Student Learning Outcomes:

    • Be able to identify the parts of a recurve bow and an arrow.
    • Be able to follow archery safety procedures.
    • Follow archery range rules.
    • Respond to 4 different whistle commands while on the range.
    • Commit to memory, and practice the 11 steps to archery success.

    The final class on 5/16 will meet 30 minutes earlier from 8:30 -10:00 am.

    Nurture the body and mind with belly dance. This ancient art form is a full body low impact dance that can help with balance, posture, flexibility and muscle coordination. It provides stress relief, as well as energies the body and mind. Use and care for your body with something fun. All levels of experience welcome! 

    By the end of this course, students will be equipped with muscle isolation techniques, basic and beyond basic moves, warm up exercises, and footwork patterns. They will be able to put together dance combinations and have a basic understanding of belly dance music.

    When you think of fitness, what do you think of? This workshop provides a lens for thinking about fitness in the context of everyday life, whatever your abilities and capabilities. Perhaps unfamiliar to you, functional fitness with its context in everyday life is important for anyone.

    Student Learning Outcomes:

    • Expand awareness of their movement habits in relation to everyday activities (e.g. transitioning between sitting and standing, getting in and out of a vehicle with ease and balance, reaching for items high on shelves, picking up items on the floor, picking up heavy items, walking, reorienting themselves to respond to environmental stimuli)
    • Enhance capacity for re-organizing (or changing) movement habits to be able to function with more awareness, ease, strength, balance, and perhaps even pleasure in everyday activities
    • Use tools such as rhythmic breathing, reduced effort, and balance control to self-assess their functional fitness

    Step into the forge for a hands-on introduction to the craft of blacksmithing. In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn how to move and shape hot metal using foundational techniques such as controlled hammering, drawing out, tapering, and blade heat treatment concepts. With guidance at every step, students of all experience levels will gain confidence working between the hammer and anvil.

    Safety, technique, and creative expression are emphasized throughout the class, ensuring a rewarding experience whether you're new to the forge or returning to build your skills. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a handcrafted piece—perfect for your hearth or as a unique, thoughtful gift.

    The project for the day - you'll make an Herb Chopper! A great tool in the kitchen, and a fun knife to forge. This compact knife fits in your palm and is used to mince herbs, nuts and anything else your creativity can add to the frying pan.

    This class is held in partnership with Olympic College.
