Advanced Screenwriting is a continuation for students from either the Port Angeles (Winter) or Port Townsend (Fall) Beginning Screenwriting classes to advance their scripts. It is also open to any folks with screenwriting experience who want to further develop their skills and/or a specific script. Along with providing a supportive "writer's room" environment, the class will dig deeper into scene structure, developing credible dialogue, re-writing, and preparing your project for professional applications: festivals, the entertainment industry, actual production.

This workshop is an extension of contemporary Cherokee artist Karen Sixkiller's "Cherokee Grandma Spider" art and exhibit at ʔaʔk̓ʷustəƞáwt̓xʷ House of Learning, Peninsula College Longhouse.
The Cherokee Grandmother Spider story is one of empowerment, inclusiveness and appreciation for the power of the small and underappreciated. Create your own unique hand printed greeting cards using individually cut print blocks made by artist Karen Sixkiller. Add a brief summary of the Grandma Spider story, signed by the artist, to the back of your cards to share these blessings of kind encouragement and empowerment to each person who receives it.

Want to create your own one-of-a-kind papers to use in cardmaking, collage, weaving, bookmaking and more? Join us as we use a gel plate, acrylic paints, found objects and more to create beautiful layered prints. Students will have the option to make large and small prints throughout this six-week course.
No experience necessary. The ability to experiment and explore and enjoy the process is very helpful.
Materials are provided, but with limited paint colors. Students may want to provide their own acrylic paints to supplement.

Learn the techniques of three-dimensional wet felting to create a bowl or vessel from start to finish. All materials are provided.
You don't have to be an artist to make something great! Wet Felting is limited only by your imagination. In this class you will learn how to make a three- dimensional felted bowl with wool & other fibers, soap, water and a bit of agitation. We will discuss the felting process and what materials will felt, how to lay out and shrink fibers and how to "heal" a cut edge and form a shape. We will use a "resist" to make a three-dimensional object. You will end up with a reversible two-color bowl that can used for change, jewelry, or even chocolate.
Open to students 14 years of age and older with an adult. Students need to bring small sharp scissors and may want to bring an apron.

You don't have to be an artist to make something great! Felting is limited only by your imagination. In three hours, you'll learn the techniques of wet felting with wool blended with other fibers to create a felted scarf from start to finish. Once you've completed the class, you can use the technique to create longer or shorter scarves, table runners, placemats or trivets of all and sizes -- only limited by our imagination. Explore the magic of creating with felt.
In this class you will learn how to make felt with wool, soap, water and a bit of agitation. We will discuss the felting process and what materials will felt, how to lay out and shrink fibers and form a shape. You will end up with a reversible scarf that will be 3 to 3.5 feet long. Be prepared to have your hands in warm soapy water during the class.
Open to students 10 years of age and older with an adult. Students may want to bring an apron. All other materials are provided.

Students enrolled in our Filmmaking Class will receive an exciting introduction to the craft of storytelling through film. Create short promotions and marketing for your business or organization, develop a community-based documentary, or produce your own personal project. Each student will have the opportunity to write, direct, shoot and edit their own short project to be screened at the conclusion of the class, and to be shown on Peninsula Area Public Access (PAPA) channels. Open to students 16 years of age and older.
Class is in-person on the Port Angeles Campus. All film and editing equipment is provided.

Learn the ancient art of "Belly Dance"! Get a full body low impact workout while learning about the history, music and props of this graceful art.
This is a vast subject that covers a number of different styles of dance in a number of different Middle Eastern and North African countries. "Belly Dance" is a melting pot term that brings all those dances and areas together into one dance. Class includes learning the actual dance moves as well as lectures on music, costumes, props, culture, and history. Some props and hip scarves will be available for use during class.

Students 12 years and older may enroll if accompanied by a parent or adult guardian over 18 registered and participating in the same class.
Beaded embroidery is the most versatile technique for embellishing clothing. Learn basic bead embroidery techniques through this 4 week hands-on workshop.
Each class focuses on you, the student, learning and practicing bead embroidery techniques with instructor support and brief demos. Learning the process of the techniques is emphasized by completing a small project. Then use class time to plan and start your own unique jewelry or clothing embellishment project of your choosing.

Learn about the world of art and art history by focusing on one painting each week; diving deep into its creation, release, impact--and by experiencing the story that is uniquely the work's own.
This ten week class will cover eight historic paintings; using lecture to explore the works' history and development, the artist responsible, the age in which it was created, and the impact it has left on the modern world. Then use your own tools to create art of your own--inspired by "The Painting" of the week.
