    Beginner-friendly, hands-on class introduces basic techniques of quilting and is excellent for people with little to no prior sewing experience. Students will learn the process of fabric selection and preparation, accurate measuring and rotary cutting, and piecing using their own sewing machine. The course will cover the essential steps to create a lap-size quilt, while providing a solid foundation for future quilting adventures. All levels of experience are welcome. Open to adults and students ages 16+.

    While the instructor can provide some fabric that has been donated, students are responsible for all of their own supplies. Please see supply list

    This course is designed for the artist and/or hobbyist and will cover welding safety, MIG welding process, plasma cutting, and mechanical cutting. Various techniques of metal forming and design will be covered. Methods of instruction will include lectures on principles of safety practices, welding and cutting processes, shielding gasses, and filler metals. Open to students 16 years of age and older.

Eighteen potter's wheels, a slab roller, canvas covered work tables, ample storage space and the use of studio tools as well as clay, glaze, and firings are all included in the course fee. All that is missing is you!

    Please do not bring in any outside clay or glazes as they may not be compatible with our ceramic studio materials. Classes may include students from multiple sessions.

    Ready to take your ceramics to the next level? This course builds on the foundational skills learned in previous classes and offers the opportunity to explore more advanced techniques in both wheel throwing and hand-building. Students will refine their craftsmanship, experiment with complex forms, and develop greater control over shape, texture, and glaze application.

    This class is best suited for those who have taken at least one or two ceramics courses (at Peninsula College or elsewhere) or have prior experience and are looking to grow their skills. If it’s been a while since you last worked with clay, don’t worry—our instructor will help you ease back in and continue your creative journey.

    Are you interested in learning how to transform plant matter into stunning botanical art? This course will guide you through the multi-layer process of using acrylic paint and a gel plate to create unique prints that you can frame or use in collages or cardmaking. You'll have the chance to collect plant matter and practice gel printing techniques with plenty of hands-on experimentation. By the end of the course, you'll be able to make your very own botanical gel prints that showcase your creativity and style.

In this intermediate course, you’ll design and complete a more intricate and larger stained glass project, building on the fundamentals you’ve already mastered. Learn advanced techniques for scoring, cutting, and assembling glass, and gain confidence creating your own custom patterns from start to finish. Open to adults and youth ages 14+ if accompanied by a parent/guardian also enrolled in the course. 

    Pre-req: You must have taken "Learn the Ancient Art of Stained Glass" or have comparable experience (instructor approval).

    Learn to decipher various forms of fine art printmaking and produce images in relief, intaglio, and monotype. We will look at and discuss example works from the four families of printmaking, then get our hands dirty creating small editions of our own works on paper using both hand printing techniques and an etching press. No experience necessary.

    Most equipment and supplies provided. Please view student supply list and purchase before class.

    Student Learning Outcomes:

    • Learn to distinguish between common printmaking processes
    • Carve and print an image using relief
    • Etch and print an image using drypoint
    • Experiment with monotype techniques
    • Print multiples of images via hand printing (relief) and use of intaglio press (etching and monotype)

    Spring is a fantastic time to focus on creativity in your photography. It's a time to explore your photographic vision and hone technical skills. This class focuses on learning to "see" how to use lighting, and creative use of exposure to create your photographic images. Skills are taught through lectures, examples, class discussions, and weekly assignments. The instructor critiques assignments and helps students grow their photography skills. Some topics covered are Spring color, motion, people, and digital dark room. Class is hosted in partnership with Edmonds College.
