You don't have to be an artist to make something great! Wet Felting is limited only by your imagination. In three hours, you'll learn the techniques of the Nuno style of wet felting with wool blended with other fibers to create a felted scarf from start to finish. Once you've completed the class, you can use the technique to create longer or shorter scarves, shawls and other garments -- only limited by our imagination. Explore the magic of creating with felt. Nuno Felting is the bonding of fibers with fabric, creating a lightweight fabric.

Felted soaps are practical as they are essentially a washcloth around your soap that is anti-microbial and it shrinks along with your soap! Do you have rocks, shells, other precious objects and have wondered, "How could I make this into jewelry?" In this six-week class, learn to use a combination of larger and smaller seed beads to bezel around your object to make it the showcase of your new pendant, earrings, or broach. The possibilities are endless! The class materials include a small flat backed stone "cabochon" and a variety of beads to learn with plus needles/thread/backing, and support adapting your own object.

The wheel is a tool that helps the artist make aesthetic decisions based on the mechanical steps of operation. In this class students will receive one on one instruction and encouragement for a hands-on experience to learn the aspects of wheel thrown pottery. Open to students ages 16 and up.

If you can learn to sew a straight line, you can learn to quilt! If you have ever wanted to make a quilt and had no idea where to start, this is the class for you! Quilting class is hands-on, and students will learn by doing. Beginning students will learn the process of making a quilt and will design and make a lap-size quilt using the pattern Disappearing 9-Patch. We lead busy lives. We do not always have the time to paint on site when we find a subject that interests us, and people and animals are not static subjects. We have a tool in photography that artists did not have in the past, but how do we use it most effectively?
In this workshop, you will learn techniques for taking good photos for art reference, how to alter the subject to make a better reference, and how to use a sketch with the photo to capture the essence of the subject.
All materials are provided. Students should bring a printed photograph to practice using it as a reference. If you need help printing the photo, email it to communityed@pencol.edu by one week before your class start date.

Beaded hat brims are beautiful and durable. Maybe you even have a 2024 graduate who dreams of their cap having a beaded edge? In this hands-on class project-based students learn about interviewing, finding their narrative voice, and the basics of storytelling. Come join us to plan, create, and publish a finished podcast. Access to a computer, recorder and editing software(such as Audacity, Audition, and GarageBand) is needed. Audacity is free for both Mac and Windows.

Wherever you are in your life or on your writing journey you will appreciate your fellow writer and having an experienced writer, teacher, and mentor.
