- Filmmaking Bootcamp

Students enrolled in our one-week Filmmaking Boot Camp will receive an exciting introduction to the craft of storytelling through film. The pace is feverish -- and fun. Each student will have the opportunity to write, direct, shoot and edit their own short project to be screened at the conclusion of the camp. Through hands-on filmmaking, students explore how to express their ideas, something important to themselves, be it personal or universal. Students will leave the program with a 2-3 minute finished film. Open to students 16 years of age and older or by permission of instructor.
Camp Details: Flim Screening, Film Academy T-shirt and Lunch included Monday - Friday
- 5 days of 8-hour sessions + Saturday Screening for a total of 45 hours.

This class prepares students to receive a Flagger Certification card, which is valid for 3 years in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Students must be at least 18 years old and must bring a valid State I.D. Card or Drivers License to the class. There is an open book test at the end of class in which you must have a passing score of 80% in order to receive your certification.
Course Details:
- Class is full-day for full certification and partial-day for recertification.
- Students receive Traffic Control Flagger Certification Handbook (yours to keep and reference on the job).
- Students take an open book test at the end of the class.
- Successful completers receive a Flagger Certification Card.
- Students must be at least 18 years of age.

Classroom presentations will be followed with an extensive field trip to important geological sites (Dungeness Spit, Hurricane Ridge, and Tongue Point). Students will view not only the natural beauty of the region, but also see first-hand the rocks and geological structures and landforms of the area.

Have you considered learning how to hike, but want to be prepared and not go alone? Starting out can seem so overwhelming, but this Intro to Hiking class can help get you well on your way to putting some miles on your boots! In this class you will learn all about wilderness safety, principles for Leave No Trace, handling emergencies, trip planning, simple tools and apps for navigation, how to put together your 10 Essentials, build a functional first aid kit, become familiar with some of local poisonous vegetation, how to deal with wild animals and more! At the end of the online class instruction, we will go on a beautiful day hike, apply what you have learned online, and have a picnic! So grab your boots and let's hike! Get introduced to the native plants during a relaxing stroll through the forest. This course will teach participants about the lowland forest plant communities that occur on the Olympic Peninsula. We will spend a few hours walking around Robin Hill Farm County Park identifying plants and learning about the ecosystem they create. Participants will be required to walk up to 2 miles over uneven ground. By the end of the class, participants should be able to identify common plants and discuss the importance of forest ecosystems

Try TaiChi, a "soft" martial art that naturally reduces stress while improving circulation, balance, health, and more.
Healing TaiChi has been practiced for thousands of years by many Asian cultures. The practice of these "soft" movement may have numerous health benefits, including an increased sense of relaxation, improved blood flow, muscle tone, and better balance. The course includes demonstrations and exercises; students will have lots of practice performing TaiChi forms, TaiChi fan, and TaiChi sword.
Open to students 14 years of age and older with an adult.
TaiChi fan (~$5) and TaiChi sword (~$15) are required after first two weeks. Instructor will review details during the first day of class.

2,500 years ago, ancient Greek audiences were shocked to see a sorceress seek revenge for her husband's infidelities. Today, this classic tale of love and betrayal returns as artist-in-residence, Richard Stephens, directs our mainstage production of MEDEA. Students enrolled will directly be involved in our mainstage show by either acting or providing tech (e.g. design, stage management, publicity). Auditions and sign up for tech take place the first week of class.
Co-enrolled with DRAMA& 101. Why is it often easier to communicate online than in person? Is it even possible to have a heart-to-heart conversation in a text? Or, have we lost the art of conversation? This class explores how our world has changed since going digital. We have unbridled access to multiple lines of communication--text, zoom, social media, voicemail--and yet many of us feel more cut off than ever. How can we navigate these changes and adapt to a 'new normal?' Join us as we explores the art of communication through a range of experiences, including: perception, listening, self-disclosure, speech apprehension, nonverbal communication, conflict, and power in relationships.
