Sourdough 101: Basics

Learn the history of sourdough! Students will receive a live culture and the ingredients to "feed" the culture and they do so as they listen to how to care for and store this culture. Students will also receive a handout that includes a recipe for Sourdough Waffles. They will observe the preparation of waffle batter and waffles and are given the opportunity to taste 2-3 versions depending on the flour used.

Sourdough 101: Breads

While learning the history of sourdough, students will observe the preparation, proofing and baking using two variations of flours. Students will be given the opportunity to taste fresh sourdough bread in addition to a bread that uses sourdough for flavor not for leavening. Sourdough 101: Basics is a pre-requisite to enroll.

Learn how to prepare Sourdough English muffins on your own griddle and gain the know how to prepare sourdough cinnamon rolls like you've never had before. Find out about a new twist called the Culture Proof. Your taste buds will remember this class for a long time. Sourdough 101 Basics is a pre-requisite to enroll.

Learn the history of Sourdough in this continuation in the sourdough series! In this class learn the history of sourdough along with how to proof your sourdough. Come find out how the holes occur in sourdough bagels. Sourdough pumpernickel bagels from your kitchen and they aren't that difficult to make! We have heard that scones can even be made in a reflector oven on a campfire! Sourdough 101 Basics is a pre-requisite to enroll.
