The 16 years of the Early Cold War in the United States was a time of extreme anxiety over the possibility of a nuclear fueled continuation of World War II coupled with the turbulent beginnings of social changes from Rock `n Roll to desegregation, and in the economic field a period of great American industrial expansion domestically and overseas. In post-WWII America, most veterans could have a job, a car and a home of their own, or at least believed that with hard work they could.
