"I Shall Meet My Fate": Classic Poems on Death and Aging   

McAlexander will discuss with the class some classic poems that express conflicting attitudes toward aging and death. Included are "That Time of Year" (Shakespeare sonnet), "Ulysses" and "Tithonus" (Tennyson), "Sailing to Bzyantium" (Yeats), "Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night" (Dylan Thomas), and the last lines of "Thanatopsis" (William Cullen Bryant). Photocopies of the poems will be provided.
