After a short 1-hour drive via luxury motor coach, the group will arrive at the Washington Historical Museum, where exhibits bring the story of Kettle Creek to life. View Revolutionary War artifacts, detailed 3D battlefield maps, and items associated with legendary Patriot commanders Elijah Clarke and Andrew Pickens. After the museum visit, enjoy lunch at Miller’s Bistro, located on Washington’s historic square. Following lunch, there will be time for a short walk around the square and an opportunity to experience the charm of one of Georgia’s most historic communities. The afternoon is devoted to Kettle Creek Battlefield, where Patriot militia forces defeated Loyalist troops in February 1779. The victory effectively ended British hopes of regaining control of upper Georgia and disrupted plans to reclaim the Southern colonies. Historians and archaeologists continue to study the battlefield, uncovering new insights into this pivotal engagement. This interesting and educational 1 ½ hour battlefield tour, will be hosted and led by Stephanie Macchia from the Washington Wilkes Museum.
