  • The Rolling Stones took the world by storm during the British Invasion of the 1960s and are considered one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Their songs have been part of the soundtrack of your life, but do you know the stories behind them? Donnie Summerlin will count down 10 essential Rolling Stones songs and share the history behind the recordings. The session will be enhanced by music clips, videos, and photographs that give life to these entertaining stories.

  • Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is his most enduring legacy. In this class, we will briefly consider the history of the song and its meaning before moving on to examine its role in various aspects of popular culture. We will end by looking at several responses to the work by contemporary artists and poets.

  • Never heard of Dorothy Fields? Maybe you have and you don’t know it. Fields was the most successful female songwriter in the golden age of the Great American Songbook. In her career spanning more than four decades, she wrote lyrics for many hit songs including “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Pick Yourself Up,” “On The Sunny Side Of The Street,” and “Big Spender,” to name a few. In this class, you will hear some of her hit songs and how she established herself in a world dominated by powerful and ambitious men… including gangsters!

  • Guitar for Novices and Intermediates

  • REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS IS CLOSED. This class is already in session.
  • Been trying to learn guitar but not really getting anywhere? These two classes are designed to start playing a few songs using 3 or 4 basic chords only. Your teacher will not be teaching music theory, barre chords or scales but with luck, you will be on your way to do a little jamming with friends when we are done. You are not going to become an accomplished player in two lessons, but it can be a start. If you are a seasoned player, you will not learn anything here.
