Come and listen to the history of the Jim Smith farm known as Smithonia, which was built in the late 1870's. Attendees will tour the Robertson house and will study a large map that tells part of the story of the Civil War and Reconstruction in this area. You will also tour and learn of the restoration of our red brick barn, built in 1905, which was the commissary for the farm.

This class will meet at the UGA School of Social Work (a former cotton mill) for a presentation on Early Industrial Athens with an emphasis on labor practices and the lives of the mill workers in the 19th- and early 20th-century mills that developed near Cedar Shoals on the North Oconee River in Athens. Following the talk (weather depending), the class will explore the Athens Factory building and walk across the Oconee Street Bridge to the Daniel Easley trailhead.

This tour will last roughly one hour and will be led by a collection manager at GMNH. Participants will learn a bit about the history of the museum, how the collections are used, and tour the public gallery's newest exhibit about migrations. Attendees will also view a few additional research collections that are housed in the same building: the teaching collection and bird collection, as well as some fossils that are currently stored in this building.

Celebrating its 115th anniversary in 2025, the Morton Theatre is one of the first and the oldest surviving vaudeville theatres in the United States that was uniquely built, owned, and operated by an African-American businessman: Monroe Bowers Morton. Experience this structure firsthand via a tour of the building, with anecdotes and historical stories of many Black-owned businesses; efforts to save, renovate, and operate the historic site as well as its current function. Discover why "Hot Corner" still plays an important role in downtown Athens and the community as a whole. For this one-hour tour, wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to climb stairs.

The Trial Gardens at the University of Georgia evaluate the newest ornamental plants from top breeding companies located around the world. We are the “go-to” garden in the arena of testing plants for adaptability to heat and humidity. Tucked away on UGA’s South Campus, our garden is a perfect place to escape and take a breather from the hustle-and-bustle of everyday life. We have shaded benches and a gazebo in the center of the garden. This tour includes one acre of garden and greenhouse areas.

UGA's iconic North Campus features buildings and spaces–many more than a century old–that are architecturally diverse, aesthetically charming, and rich in history, lore, and legend. Attendees will get a close-up look at these landmarks on a walking tour starting at the Arch and covering much of the North Campus area. We will visit the oldest building in Athens; the beautiful UGA Chapel; the site of the first murder on campus; the charming Founders Memorial Garden; and the field where the first college football game in Georgia was played. The tour will last 90 minutes, entails walking the entire time and climbing up and down steps and on moderate inclines.
